Lew Silvers, a native of New York City, now lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. Mr. Silvers is considered among the most talented contemporary artists in the country. He is a graduate of Bard College and earned an MA in Elementary and Art Education at New York University. He continued his education at Stanford University and also studied at The Art Students League and The Pacific Art League of Palo Alto, California.
For more than thirty years, Silvers was a revered and much adored elementary school teacher in California. Since his retirement from teaching, he has returned to his magnificent painting with a passion. Silvers’ most influential style of painting is from the post-impressionist era with a focus on the colorful Fauve movement. He works in a variety of mediums including chalk pastel, acrylic and goauche.
In addition to his love of painting, Lew has a passion for reading, the Opera and cats.
